New Medical and Vision Carrier

Every year health insurance changes a little, but this coming year has a big change. Effective January 1st, 2021, Anthem will be the new medical and vision carrier for Colonna’s Shipyard employees*. Anthem offers medical and vision care benefits to its members and dependents across the country. Anthem also provides a robust set of resources that makes finding providers, researching healthcare cost, and viewing claims a much easier process. We feel this change will provide a better user experience for our employees. Please note, as a result of the carrier change, all employees will need to re-enroll in benefits for the 2021 plan year.

New Voluntary Benefits

We have also decided to add two new voluntary benefits that can help supplement the cost of some of your medical care expenses.

1. Accidental Injury Insurance: An injury as common as a fracture could result in unexpected out-of-pocket costs not covered by your health plan. Accident insurance can help you with your finances if you or a covered person in your family experiences an accident.

2. Critical Illness Insurance: If you are diagnosed with a covered medical condition like a heart attack or stroke, Critical Illness insurance helps reduce daily stress about money so you can focus on getting better.

If you would like to learn more about the Accidental Injury or Critical Illness benefit prior to Open Enrollment, please join us for an information session on Thursday, October 15th from 10:00am – 11:00am or 1:00pm – 2:00pm.
